What is Interaction Design?
Interaction design is “designing interactive products to support the way people communicate and interact in their everyday and working lives” (Rogers, Sharp, & Preece, 2012, p. 9). Interaction design is all about enhancing the user experience allowing for ease of use and increased productivity. Its focus is on answering the question as to how to design such products.
Reflections
I am an avid iPhone user. With each iOS update comes several new features designed to enhance user experience over the years I have been able to utilize many new tools released with new updates. When iOS 11 rolled out I was super excited about the customizable control center. I am now able to pick and choose what is available to me at the flick of a finger. I have mine set to display my calculator, alarm clock, battery saver, flash light, and wallet apps. Instead of having to search for them in my apps or settings I can access them immediately.
Thoughts
Interaction design is a super important. If we can’t make something user friendly, then few people will use it, especially those that are older. Considering who will be using new products and how we can make using them an easy and pleasurable experience is the first step to creating a great product.
